The South Indy Youth Hockey Blue Jackets in the Squirt division became All-City Tournament Champions for the second consecutive year by beating Carmel 10-4. This accomplishment capped off a 17-1 record for the season. The Blue Jackets play their home games at Perry Park skating rink. The team consists of players from Perry and Franklin Townships, Center Grove and Beech Grove. Katie Austin, 15, has been playing tennis since she was nine years old. Persistently practicing two to three times a week during the off-season and daily during the annual tennis season, she has honed enough skill to make the Roncalli High School varsity tennis team despite only being a freshman.
Todd Carter has been named assistant coach in charge of the offensive line at the University of Indianapolis. Carter, a former letter winner at DePauw University, returns to central Indiana after spending the last three seasons at Saginaw Valley State University.
Carter was part of an SVSU team that reached the NCAA Division II Northwest Region finals in 2005 after an undefeated regular-season campaign and a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title. The Cardinals lost to Grand Valley State, who would become national champions that season, and finished the year ranked No. 2 in the nation.

Roncalli High School has selected Missy Marsh to be the school

Chanda Bell, a star high school pitcher, thought she was going to a Mary Kay cosmetics party as she and her mom drove to a Southside clubhouse.
But as they walked in, nearly 50 friends were hiding in the dark.

The 10-time national champion University of Utah gymnastics team has received a signed commitment from Stephanie McAllister of Perry Meridian High School.
McAllister plans to enroll at Utah next fall.
Utah has placed second at the last two NCAA Championships.
McAllister was the 2005 Junior Olympic National all-around champion. She won a J.O. national championship on the uneven bars in 2007, and placed fourth in the all-around at both the 2006 and 2007 J.O. Championships.

While MacFarlane has been involved in a variety of activities since his childhood, he has been most successful in sports, winning 103 gold medals throughout his career. He won 90 percent of his awards in wrestling, but he also excelled in snow and water skiing, golf, track and field, ice skating and horseback riding.
MacFarlane has met and earned the respect of world leaders such as President George W. Bush and Pope Benedict XVI as well as famous professional athletes like Wayne Gretzky, Mario Andretti and many others.
The Edward Jones branch on South Emerson Avenue has paid for MacFarlane to address the student body at Beech Grove High School on October 2 to tell his story of inspiration.
