12-1 Trojans Move on to Semi State!

Center Grove captured the state football regional last Friday with a crushing win over Castle. The Trojan offence put up 49 points while allowing just 7 in a drubbing of Castle High School. Center Grove will move one step closer to a state title in 5A this Friday when they face a Ben Davis squad sporting a 10-3

Center Grove wins Sectional Championship!

Published November 13th, 2008

Center Grove wrapped up the Sectional 7 Championship this past week with a win over Bloomington North. The Trojans ran up 55 points on a good B-Town North team. This week they will face Castle, who sport a 10-2 record. Castle has been a perennial powerhouse over the past decade and will pose a formidable challenge for Coach Moore’s squad. Keeping the offense humming along will be the key to a victory and moving one step closer to a State Championship. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, at Castle High School.

Southside Preps for the week of 11.13.08

Cardinals
#26 Sophomore
Place Kicker/Punter

Our Southside Prep for this week is a return to the surprising Ball State Cardinals. Still undefeated, the Cardinals rely on the foot of Center Grove alum and sophomore kicker Ian McGarvey. When the high-powered Cardinal offense falters, which is rarely, Ian can be counted on for three. It is not out of the realm of possibilities that an undefeated season could ride on the foot of McGarvey. Ball State has garnished national attention and is in the running for a BCS Bowl.

Pigskin Preview for the week of 11.06.08

Published November 6th, 2008

The cream always rises to the top.

This week we are left with one lone Southside team in this year’s Indiana State Football Tournament. Center Grove emerged victorious over Bloomington South last week to advance in the class 5A tournament. They did it in overwhelming fashion, racking up 56 points and keeping B-South to just two scores. This Friday, the Trojans will face the other B-Town team. Bloomington North has a deceptive 6-5 record. However, they have been hot since the playoffs began. Center Grove sports a 10-1 record and an attitude of “Yes, We Can” that even President-elect Obama would find inspirational. This squad seems to be on a mission. Coach Moore, in his tenth season, has a team that should be feasting on the opponent’s defense for the Thanksgiving holiday. First on the menu will be Bloomington North, this Friday at Center Grove. Kick off will be at 7 p.m., the weather could be a factor, so dress accordingly. I suggest something warm, dry and Trojan red.

Southside Preps for the week of 11.06.08

Indiana Hoosiers

Darius Willis
Franklin Central
Indiana Hoosiers
#28 Freshman RB

Our Southside Preps for this week feature two IU Hoosiers from the Southside. Taylor Donnell and Darius Wallis are members of the ‘08 Hoosiers. This year has been full of ups and downs for the team as well as the individual players. A tough loss at home last week to Central Michigan has ended the hopes of IU returning to a bowl. These two Southsiders will grow from this year’s experience and both Donnell and Willis will be key components to the ongoing process of building a winning program. The Hoosiers look to finish the season strong and spoil Joe Tillers farewell at Purdue by keeping “The Bucket” in Bloomington.

Southside Preps for the week of 10.30.08

Published October 30th, 2008

Our Southside Prep for this week features fifteen Franklin College Grizzlies all from the Southside. Franklin’s ’08 squad is almost one-quarter Southside alums; this may be a key reason for their 6-1 record. The Grizzlies will face Rose-Hulman this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Franklin College hopes to engineer another victory against a state and conference rival and continue working towards a championship. A loss to Rose-Hulman would end their conference championship hopes.
