Published October 16th, 2008

Another DVD release, another missed opportunity.

It was an immediate face smash on a polished floor

I’m a sprinter. I have never learned to mosey.

That’s why I’ve had several traffic tickets in my lifetime, for speeding and rolling through stop signs.
I hustle through life like my hair is on fire.

Just turning on music is too simple for this world

Published October 16th, 2008

I should have known.

I replaced the radio in my truck — the one that was removed by the person or persons unknown who did not share my views about the private ownership of movable property — and have come to realize that I simply do not know how to operate the thing, and can’t figure it out.

Step up and win our votes

Another week closer to Election Day and another debate down, I’ve come no closer to picking a candidate.

It’s not because I’m torn between change and experience, liberal and conservative or red and blue. Instead, I can’t make up my mind, because neither candidate will give new information.

I hope I’m using both hands

Published October 9th, 2008

It’s one of those gentle memories that doesn’t have a beginning. I really can’t recall the exact
time in life when we declared a friendship. Maybe it was middle school. It’s a mystery to me, really.

She’s one of those people who feel like they’ve been a part of my skin for all of my life, and yet there are chunks of time when she was not visibly there — and yet she was.

At least hold it until you get outside — or make bail

Published October 9th, 2008

Well, shoot. I, for one, was disappointed when the authorities dropped charges against Jose A. Cruz of Clarksburg, W.Va. I really wanted to see how that one was going to play out in the courts.

Mr. Cruz, 34, is the man who was charged with battery on a South Charleston police officer for passing gas and then fanning it in the officer’s direction.

When you think of the Christmas season, do you think of it beginning at the end of summer, or even the beginning of fall?

Retail businesses do, and they’re trying to make us do the same.

I never call her my pet. I would choke to death before I referred to her as a dog.

I love Sophie, my four-legged daughter, so much that I occasionally embarrass my son and my
husband.

You call them outrageous, I call them awesome

Published October 2nd, 2008

I have a birthday coming up, and I am pleased to report that someone recently told me I don’t look my age. That’s the good news.

The bad news is he said I actually look about six years older. Oh, well. With the life I’ve lived, I’m lucky it’s only six. Fun can age a person, you know.
