Hillsong inspires sellout crowd in Greenwood

On Monday, August 25, at 9 p.m. five young men in their early 20s put in 18 hours driving from Rhode Island to Greenwood to hear a single concert on August 26: Hillsong United.

International college students from Mongolia, Columbia and Spain also made the trek from their Kentucky campus for a concert: Hillsong United.

White River Township—to merge or not to merge

About 300 White River Township residents came to find answers to possibly merging Tuesday night.
They may not have gotten the answers, but they came away from the Center Grove High School auditorium with more than 20 opinions and a whole lot of information.

White River Township, in the northwest sector of Johnson County, is the largest unincorporated area, with more than 40,000 residents. Many residents have indicated that they want a sense of identity for their area and benefits from increased services.

Aid for AIDS: Sale raises funds for local missionary

When Ben VanDeman was 10 years old, he stood in the back of a church and told God there were two things he would never do with his life. VanDeman, the son of a pastor mother and pastor father, stood and told the Lord he would never go on a mission trip and he would never go to the Amazon.

Thirteen years later, VanDeman’s resolve had done a 180-degree turn. By the age of 23, he said, “I was in the Amazon, teaching the gospel.” Now, at the age of 31, VanDeman is getting ready to make his seventh trip in seven years to Africa to work with people affected by AIDS.

Always ready to give

A tribute to IFD Captain and Indiana National Guard Sergeant Gary Henry

Gary Henry got up every day ready to do whatever it took to save the lives of others. Known for accepting all challenges, Gary Henry was a firefighter and a citizen soldier.

And he lived his life always ready to give his life.

The 12-year Indianapolis firefighter veteran and sergeant in the Indiana Army National Guard deployed to Iraq in March 2008 with the 38th Military Police Company out of Danville. Sgt. Henry turned 34 in May. He gave his life on August 4.
