The Friends Foundation celebrated the 20th benefit pageant at the Beech Grove Promoter’s Club Fall Festival in September. More than $3,000 was collected by 39 candidates to support children living with HIV/AIDS.

JC libraries closed Nov. 7

All Johnson County Public Library branches will be closed on Friday, Nov. 7, for the library’s annual staff development day. Regular services hours will resume on Saturday, Nov. 8.

BG Library honors soldiers with Heroes Tree

The Beech Grove Public Library is participating in a program to honor Indiana’s Veterans. The project, Our Heroes’ Tree, is sponsored by the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University.

UIndy announces campaign for new recreation facility

The University of Indianapolis has launched a capital campaign for a proposed 103,000-square-foot Student Athletics & Recreation Center, which will provide much-needed space for sports teams and related academic programs as well as fitness facilities for the entire campus community.

Cancer Sucks • Cody Lisby was a freshman at Beech Grove High School this year.
