Halloween at the YMCA • You and your family are invited to dress in your favorite seasonal costumes. 2008 Halloween Cruise-In Car Show & Trick-or-Treat • Audio Source Greenwood is hosting a Halloween Cruise-In Car Show. Trunk-N-Treat • Emmanuel Church of Greenwood is hosting its third annual Trunk-N-Treat. This year’s theme is “Slime Time,” for kids to experience a slimy, silly, sensational and sugary night of fun. Spotlight Players Perform “12 Angry Men” • A 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. Southeastern Church of Christ Fall Festival • Guests will enjoy a free meal, games, bonfire, hayride, “treat” scavenger hunt, and a puppet show by the Rainbow Junction Puppet Players. The program, which is also free of charge to guests attending the Fall Festival, will begin at 6:15 p.m. and last 30-45 minutes. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Canned Food Drive • The Johnson County Council on Aging, in celebration of Saturday’s “National Make A Difference Day,” is sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Johnson County Senior Services Food Pantry. Zonta Club Booksale • The Zonta Club of Indianapolis is having a book sale to benefit local and international service projects. Gently-used books are priced at $.50 for paperbacks and $1 for hardbacks. “Colts in Motion” Visits Baxter YMCA • The Sports Department is excited to announce that “Colts In Motion” will be visiting the Baxter YMCA. Upward Basketball and Cheerleading • Emmanuel Church of Greenwood is taking registrations for its annual Upward Basketball/Cheerleading program for children grades K to 6. Eastern European History Expert to Speak about the Recent Russia/Georgia Conflict • Professor Charles Ingrao, Professor of History at Purdue University in West Lafayette, is an expert in Central and Eastern European history, a writer, a University teacher, and advisor to the U.S. State Department.  He will present a talk on the recent conflict between Russia and Georgia titled “The Political and Religious Dimensions of the Russian/Georgian Conflict” at the Benedict. Professor Ingrao will present his insights into the ethnic, political, and religious dynamics that led to the recent invasion of Georgia by Russian forces. Both nations have large Orthodox Christian majorities. | Where: Benedict Inn Retreat & Conference Center, 1402 Southern Ave., Beech Grove | When: Wednesday at 7 p.m. | Info: Followed by an informal social time when the speaker will be available for individual questions.  Refreshments will be provided.

Covered Wagon Program • Covered Wagon is a hands-on, interactive program presented in the classroom by a team of trained volunteers. Students are presented with the same tough choices that a pioneer family moving from Pennsylvania to Indiana would have faced, as they learn which items will fit into the wagon and which items must be left behind. Recommended for grades 2 to 6. Ghost Hunter’s Guide to Indianapolis • Adults are invited as local authors Lorri Sankowsky and Keri Young present a refreshing look at local ghost hunting as described in their book, “Ghost Hunter’s Guide to Indianapolis.” It’s the first book to combine experiences of actual ghost hunters with the ghost stories of haunted Indianapolis, complete with pictures that provide proof of the paranormal. | Where: Fountain Square Branch of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, 1066 Virginia Ave. | When: Today at 6:30 p.m.

Day of the Dead Art Workshop: Sugar Skull • Individuals ages 6 - adult are invited to decorate pre-made, molded skulls with icing, metallic foils, buttons and feathers to celebrate Day of the Dead, which combines Mexican and Central American ancient rituals with Christian beliefs to honor the dead and celebrate the continuity of life.
