Ruth M. Brown, 89, Beech Grove, died Feb. 18, 2013.  She was born Sept. 10, 1923 in Indianapolis, to the late Clarence and Mathilda Long.  She was a member of Thompson Road Baptist Church.  Her husband, Jack M. Brown, preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Jack Brown, Daniel Brown (Sherie), and Marilyn Giuliani (Larry); brother, Carl Long; sisters, Kathryn Dreyer, Betty Zufall, and Sandra Cottrell; grandchildren, Brittany, William, Matthew, and Zachary; and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. at Little & Sons Funeral Home, Beech Grove Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Thompson Road Baptist Church.

 

Dorothy Lea Eitel, 97, Greenwood, died Feb. 17, 2013. She was born on May 3, 1915 in Indianapolis. She is survived by her children, Phillip Eitel, Sandra Polk, Sally Craig and Sylvia Prouty; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Jean (Willson) Dennis. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Eitel and her parents. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home. A Graveside Service was held Feb. 20 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 1099 N Meridian St, Ste 111, Indianapolis, IN or to the Greenwood Presbyterian Church 102 East Main Street Greenwood, IN 46142.

 

Marie Frye, 82, Indianapolis, died Feb. 17, 2013.  She was born on July 27, 1930 in Bedford to the late Chauncey and Mary Alice (Fuller) Dover. She was a member of Woodside Community Church. She is survived by her daughter, Barbi Jackson; son, James (Doris) Frye; five grandchildren, Amanda Grow, Daniel Jackson, Erica (Freddie) Tate, Rachael and Jessica Frye; and four great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Makayla, Evan and Gabriella. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James G. Frye; son, Timothy; and siblings, Joseph Dover, Barbara Peterson, George Dover. A funeral service was held Feb. 20 at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, with the burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

 

Donald Henley, Beech Grove. A Celebration of Life will be held on Feb. 22 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Eagles, 712 Main St.,z Beech Grove. Those wishing to pay their respects in a celebration in honor of his life are welcome to bring a dish to share.

 

Carolyn F. Nordholt, 89, died Feb. 15, 2013. She was born Oct. 5, 1923 to Ernest and Louise Raker. She was a lifelong Southside resident and florist and the widower of Edward B. Nordholt. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ. Survivors include children, Paul (Debbie) Nordholt, Dale (Dennise) Nordholt, Linda Spaulding; grandchildren, Alisa (David) Dean, Andrea (Luis) Leal, Alan (Rachel) Nordholt, Jeremy (Holly) Spaulding, Matthew (Brandi) Spaulding, Angie Terrell, Adam (Lyn) Terrell; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers, Ray (Ginny) Raker and Arvine (Geneva) Raker; many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Charlie and Rich Raker. Funeral services were held Feb. 18 at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, with the burial in Lawn Memory Gardens.

 

Vermonia L. Ryan, 82, Indianapolis, died Feb. 15, 2013. She was born on April 29, 1930 in Indianapolis. She is survived by her husband, A. Eugene Ryan; children, Iris (Jack) Purdy, Joseph (Gaye) Ryan, Karen (Joseph) Naughton, Pamela (Jerry) Greeson, Eugene (Marcia) Ryan Jr. and Martin (Rhonda) Ryan; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by five grandchildren, three sisters and one brother. Funeral services were held Feb. 19 at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, with the entombment in Washington Park East Cemetery.

 

Jonathan G. Scofield, 64, Indianapolis, died Feb. 17, 2013. He will be laid to rest at Glen Oak Cemetery , Hillside, Illinois. Local arrangements by G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue, 5141 Madison Avenue Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.

 

Russell Ray Watson, 79, Indianapolis, died Feb. 15, 2013. He was born March 30, 1933 in Hurricane, W. Va. to the late Frank and Tavia (Carnes) Watson. He was a retired truck driver for Godwin Co. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Survivors include his wife, Norma L. (White) Watson; sons, Russell Wayne Watson, Cory Ray Watson; Daughters, Sharon (Bobby) Maness, Brenda (Stanley) Stargell, Drema (Joe) Wurster, Beverely (Tim) Eldridge, Michelle Watson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Fountain Square Mortuary.
