Mr. James E. Cahill, 81, Indianapolis, died Jan. 9, 2013. He was born in Indianapolis on May 1, 1931 to Edward J. and Emaline Volz Cahill. He worked as a truck Driver for the Fred A. Beck Co. for 26 years before retiring in 1987. He also worked in Animal Control for the City of Indianapolis for 5 years. He was a US Army combat veteran of the Korean War. He was a 1949 graduate of Sacred Heart High School, a 35 year member of Teamsters Local 135, and a member of the Kevin Barry Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Anne Hamblin Cahill; and his grandson, Donald James Bradley Cahill. He is survived by his children, Gary L., James S. (Kimberly), Daniel E. Cahill and Dr. Barbara A. Winningham (Rick); brothers, Jerome (Marjory) and Joseph (Lucy) Cahill; sister, Marianne Noone (Francis); sisters-in-law, Barbara Hamblin (Donald), Rhoda Hamblin (Robert), Edith Owens (Ed); grandchildren, Amy Cahill, Kelly O’Brien (Michael), Dana Cahill, Rachel Depaolo, Eric Cahill, Kristin, Sean (Sarah), Kenny and Luke Winningham, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 14 at St. Ann Catholic Church, with the entombment in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

 


Ruth L. Craig
, 88, Indianapolis, died Jan. 9, 2013.  She was born on Feb. 4, 1924 in Richmond, Ind. to Percy and Lucille (Fulle) Bourne. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Terry, Mary Kay (Ken) Croisant, and Deborah (Tom) Mayer; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters, Doris Harmon and Ada Fallowfield. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Charles Robert “Bob” Craig; infant son, a brother and a sister. She was a lifelong resident of southern Indianapolis and a graduate of Southport High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Prather Construction, Proto-Craft Industries, and Don Wright Construction.  She attended both Beech Grove Methodist and Center Methodist churches. Funeral services were held Jan. 12 at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, with the burial in Greenwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Hearth at Stones Crossing, 2339 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood, IN, 46143.

 

Bernard Leon Devlin, 85, Indianapolis, died Jan. 11, 2013. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School and was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the USMC in Korea and owned furniture and office equipment businesses in Indianapolis and Cincinnati until retirement. He was the son of the late Helen (Devlin) Stafford and Francis Leroy Devlin. He was married to Anita J. (Botts) Devlin who passed away in 2008. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Devlin; and sister Therese (Stafford) Laudick. He is survived by two sisters, Patricia (Devlin) Ingmire of Indianapolis, and Carmel Devlin of San Rafael, Cal.; brother, Lee Devlin of Normal, Ill.; three daughters, Nikki Longworth of Greencastle, Ind., Nanci Albrecht of Indianapolis, and Alisa Pittrizzi of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mass was held at Holy Name Catholic Church on Jan. 16. Remembrance gifts are requested to be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society.

 

Timothy King, 55, died Jan. 12, 2013.  He was born Nov. 16, 1957 in Beech Grove. He is survived by his parents, Albert and Emma (Shaw) King; brother, Albert King, Jr.; sister, Judy Alcorn; two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael King.  Arrangements were entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Chapel of the Chimes.  Burial will be at Concordia Cemetery.

 

Mary Elizabeth Risk, 93, died Jan. 8, 2013 in Merritt Island, Fla.  She was born Nov. 7, 1919 in Madison, Ind. to the late Everett and Leona Maude (Rea) Burress. She was survived by her daughters, Donna (Charles) Hayes of Merritt Island, Fla. and Kathryn (Larry) Maxey of Fishers; sister, Evelyn Walker of Scottsburg; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Risk; and daughters, Wilma, Deana and Mary Anne. Arrangements were entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Chapel of the Chimes.

Eva Rowland, 75, Indianapolis, died Jan. 13, 2013. She was born on March 3, 1937 in Harlan, Ky. to the late Oda Kingsland. She is survived by four daughters, Donna Rowland, Brenda (Ty) Hutchcraft, Sherri (Max) Gehrich and Nichole (Dan) Olin; and two grandchildren, Conner and Alexis Olin. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Rowland; and one sister, Helen Owens. A funeral service was held Jan. 16 at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, with the burial in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.

 

Edward V Rugenstein, 93, Indianapolis, died Jan. 11, 2013. He was born on June 25, 1919 in Indianapolis to William and Clara Rugenstein. He retired in 1974 from the Internal Revenue Service as chief of the Audit Division. For many years he had been a director for the Lutheran Resort Association. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. Survivors include his son, William (Linda) Rugenstein; two grandsons, Brian and Jon (Beth) Rugenstein; and two great-granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Ruth. A funeral service was held Jan. 16 at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, with the burial in Concordia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Building Fund or to a favorite charity.

 


Donald F. Shine
, 88, Indianapolis, died Jan. 9, 2013. He was born on July 25, 1924 in Indianapolis to William John and Vaneta B. Linten Shine. He was a realtor and broker and owner of Don Shine Realty Co. He was a member of Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors and the Knights of Columbus Council 3660. He served as a Pharmacist’s Mate in the US Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Shine and is survived by his children, Dan (Karen), Mike (Barb), Tom (Merlin), Bill (Robyn), Donny (Ginny) Shine and Deborah Shine Huffines (Duane); sisters, Mary and Rita; brothers, Jerry, Bill, Bob and Pat; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 15 at St. Roch Catholic Church, with the burial in Calvary Cemetery.
