Candida: The invisible epidemic

Published July 5th, 2012

As ‘ewwww’ as it sounds, medical science reports yeast-like fungi live unrestrained inside 50 to 80 percent of society’s inner universe. Is it colonizing your body’s ecology?

Yeast happens. Inside your body are about 500 varieties of living bacterial, viral and fungal microorganisms, including candida. Candida symptoms include headaches, fatigue, brain fog, digestive disorders, depression, irritability, respiratory disorders, skin rashes, itchy throat, vaginal infections, aches and swelling in muscle tissue and sensitivity to chemical odors and additives. Thriving candida may also factor into many thyroid-related and autoimmune disorders. Evaluating society’s many ills, this explains a lot.

Diagnosing candida-related illness is apparently tricky. Historically, many traditional physicians deny the existence of the candidiasis hypersensitivity syndrome, refusing effective treatments for yeast infections or allergies. Some frustrated ladies told me their doctors asserted it doesn’t exist. Sigh. Really? Thus, you must become an educated, proactive partner in your body’s dietary stewardship.

I lovingly encourage you to find an integrative or holistic medical doctor. Naturopathic physicians suggest taking herbal and nutritional supplements and making dietary change. Try giving the fungus a good drubbing with balancing probiotic Kombucha Tea, kefir, plain yogurt, coconut and olive oil, digestive enzymes, olive oil, fibrous ground flax seed, raw fresh garlic, grapefruit seed extract and black walnut.
Want to feed an outbreak? Fungus adores sugar and refined carbs. Fedupbloating.com, a candida website, feels junk food should carry health warnings to alert the public to the dangers of junk food and malnutrition. Junk food, fast food, sugary food and prolonged antibiotic use are the main felons when it comes to Candida overgrowth. This weakens your immune system, making your digestive tract a Candida Woodstock. If you’re a vegaphobic boozehound, then you’re creating an unbalanced ecosystem that allows Candida to flourish.

Take several deep breaths and mellow out, friends. Stress trashes your immune system, allowing for Candida. If you don’t get adequate sleep, work a high-stress job or live life anxiously, then your immune system suffers.

Your best preventive strategy is to eat real, unprocessed food. You’re worth it.
