Life requires a certain
degree of balance.
However, like all good
plans of mice and men,
things often go awry. If you’re
offended by blunt talk about female
problems, or seek corporate-
sponsored, FDA-approved
facts about yeast infections,
you’ve come to the wrong guy.
For decades, Candidiasis,
normally whispered in squirmy
embarrassment, has been
ramping up into a widespread
health problem. It’s the name
for a common yeast infection
caused by candida albicans.
For the whopping 90 percent of
society’s women who currently
experience this microbial imbalance,
yeast overgrowth for
the most part, is preventable.
Constantly proliferating fungal
organisms can suck the life out
of your energy levels, mental
clarity, immune function, and
intestinal health.
No one, especially me, has
perfect discipline. But the more
you know about the ‘fungus
amongus’, the better men and
women are able to manage
their diet. Yes, men get yeasty
too. Julie Matthews, CNC and
author of “Nourishing Help,”
says, “Yeast infection is often
triggered by antibiotic use
which creates gut inflammation
and lousy gut function.
When the delicate balance
of symbiotic gut organisms
(bugs) is by antibiotic treatment,
hormonal imbalances,
processed food, or by a weakening
of the body’s resistance
to disease, the fungus proliferates.”
Antibiotics (anti-life) arbitrarily
kill all bacteria within
the Temple. It’s the dominance
of bad bacteria that trashes the
sanctity of your Temple.
Sugar, candida albicans favorite
fare, loiters in everything.
If you’ve made bread you know
yeast intensifies in the presence
of sugar, so those with uncontrolled
diabetes are at elevated
risk. The worst enabler, sugar
creates the perfect storm. Eliminate
sugars which sustain yeast
overgrowth; cookies, muffins,
carbonated beverages, and other
sugary treats. Even sugar in
fruit, especially dried fruit, can
be a bummer. Remove yeastcontaining
foods such as bread,
white flour, instant white rice,
potatoes, grapes, plums, aged
meats and cheeses and vinegars
which feast on yeast. The USDA
says Americans suck down onehundred
and fifty-six pounds
of sugary-deceit annually and
there, my dear readers, is the
crux of the problem. That’s 31
five-pound bags for each of us.
The Western diet is killing us
slowly, so dose-down sugar and
processed junk food. Even an
allegedly healthy snack like Yoplait
yogurt contains almost 40
grams of sugar. Cozy up to the
green box of Sweet Leaf Stevia
found on all grocers shelves, but
circumvent Truvia. Some damaged
scientist altered its molecular
structure like a dog marks
its territory. Will man ever figure
out he cannot improve on
God’s work? I have faith.
Eat bugs! Probiotics (pro-life)
studies show a daily cup of lowfat,
sugar-free yogurt or Kefir
significantly reduces the risk of
unwelcome candida immigration.
If you have dairy allergies
or if yogurt and Kefir gag you,
there are other delivery systems
for probiotics. Deb Smith
of Good Earth Whole Foods in
Indianapolis suggests either Enzymedica
or Renew-Life brands
of probiotics. If the probiotics
are not refrigerated, don’t
waste your dough. Fermented
foods like crème fraiche’, tempeh,
kimchi, miso, wheat-free
tamari, and raw Kraut contain
live beneficial bacteria that give
yeast the bums rush, therefore
sustaining a healthy, contented
inner ecology. Finally, remove
starches. To achieve this, some
good folks choose the Specific
Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) that
eliminates starches such as potatoes,
corn and gluten-free
grains. This is also excellent
protocol for Autistic children.
You can also gentrify your innards
acid environment by sipping
all day on alkaline Smart
Water or Fiji water with fresh
squeezed lemon or lime. Kangen
water reduces the ideal
acidic environment yeast seeks.
To learn more about alkaline
Kangen H2O, call Larry Carmen
at (317) 654-6241, or stop
by his Amazing Potato Chip
Factory inside Indianapolis City
Market. He’ll give you a free
sample plus an explanation. Almost
every other available beverage
within eye sight is acidic
and encourages yeast colonization.
